In 2024, the iconic Coke hat celebrates its 175th anniversary. Lock & Co. has partnered with the Royal School of Needlework for RSN x Bowler Hat to commemorate this milestone. The collaboration is a testament to the artistry of British heritage craftsmanship in creating and showcasing an exclusive range of bowler hats, each with a unique design and embellished using handmade ribbon work. Each beautiful bowler hat has its own story, brought to life by the meticulous finesse and design skills of the RSN degree students.

Phillipa Palmer

As a hand embroiderer practitioner, Phillipa aims to display the use of traditional techniques in a contemporary style. She looks for the elegance and small details, taking inspiration from natural forms. Situated in the Lake District, this is where her love for nature and wildlife evolved. Phillipa’s Bowler hat resembles all 175 years of Lock and Co and shows the historical significance of our country through two embroidered and embellished swans. Techniques used within this design include, tambour, gold work and embellishments.
